SEDAN Analytics and Knowledge Solutions (SAKS) was founded on a simple but urgent conviction: that the distance between available data and actionable decisions is one of the most consequential problems facing organisations and institutions today. Too often, rich datasets sit unused in institutional silos. Too often, critical decisions are made on the basis of outdated reports or anecdotal evidence. SAKS exists to close that gap.
We began as a small team of researchers and analysts with backgrounds spanning economics, public health, education, and information systems. Our early work was project-based — surveys, evaluations, baseline studies. Over time, we built something more durable: a set of methodologies, tools, and relationships that allow us to move fluidly between data generation, analysis, and strategic communication.
This journal is where we think out loud. We will share findings from our work, reflect on the field, offer opinions that are sometimes contrarian, and document the lessons — including the failures — that have shaped how we work. We hope you find it useful.
